FROM AWARENESS TO ACTION: HOW TO REALIGN WITHOUT BURNING OUT
Being self-aware is step one. Acting on it is the real work.
Sisterhood, let’s be real: many of us are quite self-aware. We read the books, attend the webinars and do the inner work. We know what’s off, but knowing and doing are two different muscles, and most of us are tired before we even lift the second one.
Professor Maxwell Maltz, author of Psycho-Cybernetics, reminds us that lasting change requires a shift in self-image. Awareness shows us the disconnect. Action on the other hand, is where real alignment lives. As Dr Otto Scharmer teaches in Theory U, transformation happens when we “let go” of what no longer serves, and step into a future we can sense, but not yet see.
So, how do we shift from knowing to doing, without burning out?
Here’s a realignment toolkit to help:
The Wheel of Life: Map out key areas, health, career, relationships and growth. Where are you thriving, and where are you just surviving - this is a good time to go and read our personal audit article).
Journaling Prompts:
– What have I been avoiding?
– What decision would I make if I trusted myself more?
– What version of me needs to speak up now?The One Conversation: You know the one. With your boss, your partner, your friend, or yourself. Realignment often requires release, and release often requires dialogue.
Realignment is actually a process of reclaiming. A conscious return to what matters, without sacrificing your wellbeing in the process.
So yes, do the inner work. But then, act as soon as possible. With courage, kindness and community.
